Baie James Expedition, departure from Mont-Laurier

Day 1

Early in the morning.
- Introduction to sled , placing dog harness and specialized equipment for James bay
- Loading equipment and sleds in the truck
- At night, dogs loading and departure from Mont- Laurier to Waskaganish (1200 km)

Day 2

Arrival at Waskaganish around 11 am and departure.
At the arrival, last preparation and loading of the sleighs. Departure from Fort Rupert around noon towards ICE ROCH, a small island in the middle of nowhere, where we will set up the first camp. Beginning of the great adventure!

Day 3 to 7

The pack ice, the sun at dawn and at twilight and the possibility to see the Northern Lights will all be there every day.
From an island to another, unusual encounters, like the seals will surprise more than a few. Running alongside the coast, towards "pointe au bois brûlé", we will go towards Jacob Island, getting out of Rupert River. Depending of the weather and trail conditions, we will travel from Charleton Island to Trodlerg.

Then head for Weston Island, to join the Estmain River towards the "Old Trading Post". We will follow the coast towards the Kamuwashauhkau reefs and get to Chrissy Thomey passage.

Day 8

Loding dogs and equipement in the truck and return to Mont Laurier
After a last bivouac towards Stag Roch, we will be back on solid ground, taking Rupert River to get to our departure point in the morning.

This is an expedition for an experimented clientele in winter camping and in conditions that can be extreme. Excellent physical and psychological conditions are needed with no health problem.

Included in the expedition: a dog team of 8 to 10 dogs, depending of the weight of the client. Sleeping bag/tent/food during all the expedition. Air Medic Insurance (aerial repatriation), satellite phone. Plan your arrivl the day before departure and plan for the night of the eighth day
